Jackie Roquemore Johnson December 1, 1922 - October 19, 2013 Macon, GA- Jackie Roquemore Johnson, 90, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013. Mrs. Johnson was born in Milan, GA in 1922 to the late William Craig Cravey and Lillian Cornelia Cravey. She later moved to Macon, GA with her family, where she attended First Street Methodist Church and at age 10, joined and was baptized in the Cherokee Heights Methodist Church. She later moved her membership to Martha Bowman Methodist where she was a very active for 60 years. She was self-employed as a licensed cosmetologist for over 50 years, volunteered for Macon Outreach and an active member in the Macon Moose Auxiliary, Chapter 483, where she held many officer positions, including Senior Regent, and was also a member of the American Legion where she held position of Secretary and Chaplin. Mrs. Johnson was very active in her community with the MYF at her church, worked with the alter guild, served communion, worked in the nursery, member of the Joy Circle, helped with special church dinners, baked cookies for the Asbury Sunday School class every Sunday, also donated many newborn handmade crochet blankets for family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who was so giving and caring to all who knew her, but managed to find time to do the things she liked so much- "dancing, traveling, baking and volunteering." She was most proud of the accomplishments of all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and special nieces and nephew who all loved her very much and will truly miss her. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her first husband William Delworth Roquemore, Sr., her two sisters, Genevee Renders and Geneva Jackson and one granddaughter, Adella Roquemore and her second husband, Julius Carlton Johnson, Jr. Survivors include: son, William Del Roquemore, daughters, Judy Lee Thurston and Deborah Joy Payton, grandchildren, Keith Dykes, William (Bubba) Roquemore, Christy Owen, Ray Payton, eight great-grandchildren, four step-children and three step-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Martha Bowman United Methodist Church from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary from 11:00AM to 12:00 noon. Following the funeral, there will be a private burial for family members only at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family request donations be made to United Hospice of Macon, 6060 Lakeside Commons Drive, Macon, GA 31210 or to Christ Church, 582 Walnut Street, Macon, GA 31201.
