Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Morgan Funeral Chapel for Jackie "Bobby" Cushing, 78, Gadsden, who died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013. The Rev. Harold Daughtery and the Rev. George Lankford will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in New Cannan Cemetery in Section, AL. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory directing.Mr. Cushing was a retired Marine with 26 years of service to his country. He was also retired from the U. S. Postal Service. Mr. Cushing was a lifetime member of the U.S. Marine Corps League. He was a member of the Lookout Mountain Community Center, Marine Corps League McLaughlin Detachment. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Tedford Cushing and Clara Effie Tucker Cushing; and granddaughter, Melissa Kelley McGatha.Survivors: wife of 53 years, Myrtle Faye Kelley Cushing, Gadsden; son, Michael Floyd Cushing, Collinsville; daughter-in-law, Melinda Allen Cushing, Collinsville; daughter, Kelley Elizabeth McGatha, Section; son-in-law, Mancil Keith McGatha, Section; granddaughter, Jessica McGatha (Chris) Totherow, Section; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Maylee Grace Totherow; sister, Genie Faye Cushing, Gadsden; brother, Aurthor (Rudean) Cushing, Arab; nieces and nephews, Pam Cushing, Patricia Roberts, Shelia Mathews, Helen Lewis, Freddy Boyd, Martha Campbell, Jan Hargis and Ronald Kelley.Honorary pallbearers, Larry Phillips, Kenneth Widner, Bill Darnell and the members of the Senior Nutrition Center of Lookout Mountain.We wish to thank the doctors, nurses and techs of the seventh floor south at Gadsden Regional Medical Center for the loving care and support they provided during this trying time.
