Jack-William-Crowe Sr, born in 1925, spouse of Linda Crowe, son of Dennis-Wesley and Ethel-Agnes-Webster, father of Jack and Jack Crowe, died on January 6, 2011.
Jacksonville - Jack William Crowe Sr., of Jacksonville, Alabama, passed away on January 6, 2011 at Gadsden Regional Hospital. He was 85 years old. Mr. Crowe was born in Columbiana, Ala. on July 14, 1925, where he attended schools in the Birmingham area before enlisting in the U.S. Marines. He was inducted at an early age at Fort McClellan, Ala. serving proudly in the South Pacific Theater as a gunner during World War II. Upon returning to the Ensley area, he entered restaurant management with Brittling Cafeterias. Moving to the Chicago area, he joined the Chicago and Santa Fe Railroad Dinning cars on the Chicago Los Angles run. There serving such prominent people as President Harry Truman. He later transferred to the Washington DC area with John Marriott Restaurants where he assisted John Marriot in opening the first Marriot Hotel and restaurant on Stemmons Freeway in Dallas, Texas. Later years were spent with The Southern Cafeteria Service as regional manager and after retiring settled in the Dallas area. In 2000, he moved to Calhoun County to enjoy being with his son Jack and grandsons, where his last years were fondly spent enjoying football with the JSU Gamecocks. Jack Crowe Sr. cherished every moment he had to spend with family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Dennis Wesley Crowe and Ethel Agnes Webster Crowe; two brothers, Clyde Wesley Crowe and David Marvin Crowe. Survivors include wife, Linda Crowe, of Pacific Mo.; sons, Jack Crowe Jr. (wife, LeAnn) of Anniston and Mike Crowe, of Dallas, Texas; beloved grandsons, Russell Crowe, of Jacksonville and Scott Crowe, of Birmingham; sister, Gayle Savvas, of Ooltewah, Tenn.; several nephews and nieces. Mr. Crowe wished to be cremated, with no visitation or formal services. Remains will be received by his sister at Chattanooga National Military Park Cemetery for interment with services for immediate family.
