LEE, JR., WALTER ERNEST, 89, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011. He was born in Newville,Al., on January 31, 1921 to the late Walter E. Lee, Sr. and Lillie Coley Lee. His early years and secondary education were completed in Dothan, Al. He joined the military in 1942. On March 12, 1943, he married Vera Bouyer and with their two children, they lived and traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Asia, Europe, the Middle East and on the islands of Guam and Puerto Rico. After twenty two years, SMSGT. Lee, retired from the Air Force in 1965. Upon his retirement, he and his wife settled in Winter Park, Fl. Subsequently, they moved to Maitland, Fl. His second career was as a postal clerk in Winter Park. He is the first African American to hold such a position. He retired from the postal system in 1985. A family man and humanitarian, he touched many people's lives, setting the example of high moral, spiritual and educational standards. As such, he was recognized by the community for his efforts when he was presented the" Jefferson Award" in 2002. He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Vera Lee; he is survived by his daughter, Jane Turner of Eatonville ; son, Michael W. Lee of Winter Park; granddaughter, Tracy Turner Johnson of Atlanta; grandsons, Michael Lee, II, Tierre Turner of Atlanta and Christopher Lee (Louvonia) of Deltona; great-grand son, Turner Johnson, great-granddaughter, Michaela Johnson of Atlanta; sister-in-laws, Lorene Lee and Luellen Lee , Dothan , Al., Frances Bradwell (Willis) Winter Park. A host of nephews , nieces and friends. Viewing, from 4-6p.m. Friday, at Golden' Funeral Home, Winter Park, Fl; Service on Saturday, 11:00 a.m., Asbury United Methodist Church, 220 W. Horatio Ave., Maitland, Fl.; in lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made to the Orlando Alzheimer Resource Center, 1506 Lake Highland Dr. Orlando, Fl. 32803 ; or the Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, Fl.32714. Interment will be held at Piney Wood Cemetery, Winter Park, Fl. Arrangements are by Golden's Funeral Home, 210 Pennsylvania Ave. Winter Park, Fl. 32789
