DAVIS, JOSEPH "JOE" LLOYD age 79, passed away on April 2, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents; Cecil Leon Davis and Clara Lane Crumly Davis; sister, Janet Davis Black and brother, James Milton Davis. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Charlotte Cory Davis; daughters, Marilyn Purdy (Gary) of Chattanooga, TN and Amy Walker (Hardy) of Pelham, AL; grandchildren, Davis Gardner Purdy and ClaraLane Elizabeth Purdy, both of Chattanooga, TN, Haylee Marie Walker, Wesley Joseph Walker and Carlie Jean Walker all of Pelham, AL and many nieces and nephews. Joe was a Birmingham native. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1951. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Joe graduated from Howard College (Samford University) in 1958 and is a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. His business career was in the financial industry where he served 37 years in Birmingham and Huntsville. Joe was a loving husband, father, "Papa", uncle and friend to many. He loved history, Alabama football and working out at the YMCA. He was an active member of Evangel Church, PCA. His family wishes to thank the Evangel Church family and ComfortCare for their love and support. The family will receive friends at Evangel Church PCA on Thursday, March 5, 2012 from 12:00PM-1:00PM with a service at 1:00PM at the church.
