SIMPSON III, JOHN RICHARD, age 81 of Ormond Beach, passed away Friday, August 8, 2003 at Florida Hospital, Ormond Memorial. Born December 9, 1921 in Atlanta, GA, he moved to the area in 1963 from Rome, GA. Former Vice President and Board Member of Commercial Bank of Daytona Beach, now SunBank. He made his banking career as an executive vice president of the trust department of 1st Marine Bank & Trust of Palm Beach. A member of First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach, SAE Social Fraternity, Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, Past President of Easter Seals, Past Chairman of the Trust Division of the Florida Bankers Assoc., Charter Member of the Navy League, Volusia County Estate Planning Council, Kiwanis Club of Ormond Beach and the Tiger Bay Club. Graduated from Emory University and Emory Law School. A U.S. Navy carrier pilot and Veteran of World War II. Survived by wife Emily; son John Simpson, Orlando; one grandchild.
