CLIFTON PARK John Jack Ernest Montgomery, 88, of Denim Drive, Clifton Park, passed peacefully into death on Saturday, May 17, 2003 following a long illness. He was born in Glens Falls, N.Y. on March 15, 1915, the son of the late Ernest and Agnes Hurley Montgomery. He was a graduate of Mechanicville High School, class of 1934 and husband of Helen Arigone Montgomery, whom he married September 18, 1940. He was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Church of Clifton Park, a member of the Knights of Columbus in Mechanicville and a member of the St. Paul's Holy Name Society of Mechanicville. He enjoyed reading and sports and was an avid Yankees fan. He liked the outdoors and his neighbors and especially enjoyed having his family around him. He was a 39-year employee of General Electric Company in Schenectady, N.Y., working in the large steam turbine production operation where he was a lathe operator. He also worked for Ushers Machine & Tool Co. and for Mintzers Petroleum in Troy. He also worked for the Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany and was a member of the I.U.E. He was a former Democratic committeeman in Clifton Park. Survivors, in addition to his wife Helen, include three sons, John E. and his wife Patricia Montgomery of Huntingtown, Md., David B. and his wife Ann Montgomery of Newtown, Conn. and Gary M. Montgomery of Fort Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren, Tracy A. and her husband Seth Luckman, Kathleen P., Lynne M., Jeffery M., Pamela L. and Julianne L. Montgomery; one great-grandson, Zachary P. Luckman; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jane M. Walsh and Martha Montgomery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park with the Reverend John Carins, officiating. Relatives and friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Dunn Funeral Homes, Inc., 319 Park Ave., Mechanicville, NY 12118. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Mechanicville.
