Obituary of John-M. Wickham


John M. Wickham, 67, of Rye, NY passed away on July 14, 2009. He was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Charles and Virginia Wickham. He was raised and educated in Ithaca, NY. After high school, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was later a White Plains police officer for several years before becoming a professional firefighter with the Hartsdale Fire District. He later transferred to the City of Rye Fire Department from which he retired in 1999. After his retirement he served as a fire chief for the City of Rye, He is survived by his wife, Joan (nee Glasheen), two daughters Maureen (Michael) Cucchiara and Elizabeth Wickham Brooke. He was the beloved grandfather of Brian and Kevin Cucchiara and Christopher Brooke He was a member of the Poningo Hook and Ladder Company in Rye, the Gardner Lake Volunteer Fire Co. in Salem, Ct, the New York State Assn. Fire Chiefs, and the Rye Lions Club. The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 17 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 PM at the Graham Funeral Home. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, at the Church of the Resurrection, Rye. Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery.
