Obituary of John-H. -Van Horn


VAN HORN, JOHN "JACK" H., died peacefully the evening of August 22, 2003 at Orange Park Medical Center. A native of Philadelphia, PA, Jack graduated from Drexel University with a Chemical Engineering degree. He worked for RCA Victor until 1950 when he joined Minute Maid Corporation. In 1978, he retired after a successful career with Minute Maid/Coca- Cola. Jack lived in Orlando from 1950 until 1968, when he and Midge moved to Houston, TX, the headquarters of the Food Division of Minute Maid/ Coca-Cola. In 1977, they returned to Florida and settled in Winter Park where they lived until 1993, when they moved to Orange Park, FL. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mildred "Midge"; two children, John (Penny) and Helen Butler (Joseph); five grandchildren, Joseph Butler III (Lizabeth), Christopher Van Horn, Rebecca Butler Patrick (Haden) Marget Van Horn Maurer (Eric), and John Butler. A memorial service was held 2PM Monday, August 25th, at Grace Episcopal Church, 142 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL with Rev. Samuel Pasco officiating. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or your public library. An avid reader, Jack's library card was his passport to enjoyment.
