JOHN FRANCIS TOURVILLE GRAPEVINE, TX - John Francis Tourville, born May 8, 1950 to Robert E. and Jean Cameron Tourville (now Nadeau), died on Nov. 14, 2010 at the age of 60 in Baylor Regional Medical Center of Grapevine, TX. At the time of his death, Dr. Tourville served as the Director of Pharmacy at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine; and was previously the Director of Pharmaceutical Safety and Chief Pharmacist for Tenet Healthcare, Director of the Pharmacy Dept. Children's Medical Center of Dallas, Clinical Specialist at Parkland Hospital, Head of the Pharmacy Dept Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune, N.C., as well as San Diego, Calif., Guam, and Bethesda, Md., and was the Senior Staff Fellow and Assistant to the Head for Clinical Services at the Clinical Center, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Md. During his tenure in the US Navy he achieved the rank of Lt. Commander, and served during the Desert Storm period (assigned to the hospital\transport ship USS Tarawa). John was a graduate of Rice Memorial High School (1968), received his BS in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut (1973), and Doctorate of Pharmacology from the University at Buffalo (1975). During his career, Dr. Tourville served as an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacy at numerous academic institutions and was an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, University of Maryland, West Virginia University, and SUNY Buffalo. Amongst numerous career accomplishments and professional accolades, John was the first "non- physician" health care provider to receive a Fellowship in the American College of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Tourville was the author of numerous scientific articles, and served for many years as a contributing editor and section coordinator for the peer-reviewed scientific journal Hospital Pharmacy. John enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an outdoor enthusiast, loved to grill and entertain, and was an avid runner and sports fan. Those who knew him best described him as a kind- hearted and generous person that would do anything possible to help a friend or loved-one. He was philanthropic by nature, and volunteered with a multitude of organizations and charitable foundations throughout the years. John was predeceased by his father, Robert; his grandparents, Eugene and Mabel Tourville; his maternal grandmother and Godmother, Bernice Cameron; and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include his wife, Yvette Tourville, of Grapevine, TX; daughter, Katerina and husband, Dan McCarthy, of Newport, N.H.; son, Tim and wife, Kelly, of Georgia, VT; stepchildren, Charles Bryant, Jordan Hillerman, and Alessandra Hillerman of Grapevine, TX; mother, Jean Nadeau and husband, Albert; brothers, Mark and wife, Nancy and Matt and wife, Pat; sisters, Kathy and husband, Tom Barron and Rose and husband, Randy Laba; brother, Joe and wife, Shelley; sister, Cindy Haverstick; and brother, Tom and wife, Carolyn; three grandchildren, Kayla Martin and Reese and Cooper Tourville; the extended family of Albert Nadeau; five aunts in Vermont and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services for John were held on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at the Abundant Life Assembly of God in Grapevine, TX, followed by a military interment ceremony at the Dallas Ft.
