John F. "Switch" Hoyt a lifelong Stony Point resident passed away on August 10, 2006, he was 77. John was born in Stony Point, NY on January 31, 1929 to Kenneth and Mary Dykens Hoyt. John was employed by the Town of Stony Point for over ten years and retired as Supervisor of Parks and Recreation. John took great pride in his home and was an accomplished woodworker making numerous gifts for his friends and family. John was also an avid Yankees fan and will be remembered for always having candy for the kids in the neighborhood. John served his country with the United States Army. John is survived by his children John Hoyt and Carole Hoyt of Woodbridge, VA, two brothers Albert and Floyd of Stony Point, NY, one sister Ruth of South Carolina and two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. John is also survived by his life long friend Elizabeth Pitt. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Higgins Funeral Home, Rt. 9W, Stony Point, NY.
