WILLIAMS, JOHN DAVID Passed away July 21, 2013 at the age of 78, John is survived by his wife of 14 years, Charlotte Poe' Williams, children, Jeffrey (Mary) Poe, Jaime (Gregg) Helms, grandchildren, Brooke and Morgan Williams, Haley, Harrison, and Heidi Helms, and Nicholas Poe, great grandchild, Lottie Ledlow. John is preceded by his parents, Raymond and LaWaunda Williams, his son, Steven Williams and wife, Barbara Drummond Williams. To those who were family and friends, John was always gracious, kind and loving. He was a quiet man, unpretentious in demeanor, thoughtful and walked humbly before his God. To his beautiful wife Charlotte Poe Williams, he was the sweetest, most kind and loving person she had ever known. His welcoming and genuine nature caused others to easily embrace him in friendship and John was deeply loved by his church community, the Deeper Life Sunday School Class, at Briarwood Presbyterian Church where he served so faithfully for many years. John loved his family, friends, church and community and gave freely of his time through service and his involvement in various civic organizations. While all who love and know John will grieve his physical separation from us, we rejoice in celebrating that he is now ever present with His beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The funeral service will be held at Briarwood Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 10:30am, with the visitation starting one hour prior. The burial will be at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo at 12:30pm. The family request that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to The Big Oak Ranch (bigoak.org).
