JOAN MARTIN (nee BYRNES) Died of pneumonia in her 91st year on July 5, 2014 at The Scarborough Hospital. Born October 14, 1923 in Toronto, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years Ralph and six of her eight brothers and sisters. Joan leaves behind, mourning the loss of her easy smile and loving concern for others: sister Shirley Kirkland and brother Charlie Byrnes; sons Robert (Mary), Ralph (Karen) and Stephen (Kim); six grandchildren Rob, Carolyn, Andrew, Michela, Ryan and Brittany; and two great- grandchildren Lily and Isabelle. At Joan's request, there will be no funeral. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life and to toast her indomitable spirit. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
