GARDINER -- Janette Manson Davis, of Gardiner, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta, following a brief illness, surrounded by her family.She was born in Gardiner on Sept. 22, 1925, the daughter of George W. and Margaret Potter Manson.She was a graduate of the class of 1942 at Gardiner Area High School and a graduate of Gates Business School in Augusta. She was employed nearly 30 years by the Veterans Administration, Togus, where she retired in 1987. Janette was a loving and devoted Mum, Nana and Great Nana, and a gentle and caring friend.She was predeceased by her parents, George and Margaret Manson.She is survived by her daughter, Dale Goodwin, and her husband, Vinnie, of Belgrade; her son, Mark Davis, of Gardiner; three granddaughters, Shannon Fielder and her husband, Spencer, Sadie Davis, and Jessica Santos and her husband, Jason; three great-granddaughters, Kelsie Fielder, Madelyn Davis and Mariah Santos; one niece; and two nephews.At her request, there will be no visiting hours. A family graveside service will be held in the spring at Oak Grove Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society; or to a charity of ones choice.Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
