MANCHESTER -- James P. Coughlin, 69, died Jan. 11, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Manchester, Aug. 23, 1940, to Peter J. and Blanche (Hebert) Coughlin and had resided in Manchester all of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. A plumber by trade, he was forced to retire due to a work-related disability in 1970. He will be remembered as a compassionate man who loved his family, cherished the time spent with them and was a good friend to many. His generosity extended to several charitable organizations. Family members include his wife of 50 years, Cecile (Martel) Coughlin of Manchester; a daughter, Kelly Pelletier of Allenstown; three sons, Daniel P. Coughlin of Manchester, Gary J. Coughlin of Derry and Brian M. Coughlin of Manchester; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Coughlin of Manchester and Lorraine Gagnon of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; a brother, Roger M. Coughlin of Brentwood; and several nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in McHugh Funeral Home, 483 Beech St., corner of Hanover St., Manchester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. Cremation will follow.
