James Miller Roy, age 89, of E. Dennis, MA, a retired carpenter, died Thursday, October 31, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA. He married Louise S. Roy in Glagow, Scotland, in 1938. She died in 1995. Mr. Roy lived in Yonkers from the time of his arrival from Scotland in 1947 until his retirement in 1975. Born and educated in Glasgow, Scotland, he was a member of the British Army during World War II. Mr Roy served in India, Burma, and West Africa. He spent most of his working years in Westchester County and was employed by Haggerty Millwork Corporation of Mount Kisco for many years. He was a member of the Suburban New York Regional Council of Carpenters for over fifty years. Always involved in church life, Mr. Roy had served as an elder in the Dayspring Presbyterian Church of Yonkers, NY. He was an active member of the Brewster Baptist Church in Brewster, MA, where he served as a Deacon. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Roy Gotti; son-in-law, Robert Gotti, formerly of Eastchester; by two grandsons, Robert Roy Gotti, of Westwood, MA, and Keith Charles Gotti, of Ossining, NY; and by four great-grandchildren, Brendan, Bryan, Melissa and MIchael, all of Westwood, MA. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 9th, at the Brewster Baptist Church, Route 6A, in Brewster. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Brewster Baptist Church Building Fund, the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod, Hyannis, MA, or the charity of one's choice.
