Obituary of James-H. Amos


AMOS, JAMES H. - age 66, of Lake City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. James was born on April 18, 1948, in Lake City, Tennessee, to the late Howard and Marjorie Beach Amos. He started his teaching career at Lake City Elementary School, and then retired from teaching and coaching girl's basketball at Lake City Middle School after 33 years. James served in the Army National Guard. He followed his career by working for Lowe's Home Improvement for seven more years. He finally retired after this career to enjoy his family and hobbies. Survivors: wife of 43 years, Peggy Amos; son, Christopher James Amos and wife Elizabeth; brothers, Ronnie Amos, Terry Amos and wife Debbie, Dewayne Amos and Lynette; sister, Linda Lovely and husband Mike; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2014, at Hatmaker Funeral Home. Funeral service: 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2014, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Courtney officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Oak Grove Cemetery for graveside services.
