ObituaryJack A. Williams, known to his family as "Papa" passed away on October 24, 2006 in Lakeland, FL. He was born on December 21, 1915 in Brooks County, GA to George and Birdie Williams and had three sisters, Mary Ester Williams, Myrle Cunningham, and Lucille Williams and two brothers, Carl and Clarence Williams. He married Marguerite B. Jones on January 11, 1941 and had two sons, Ronald Jack and Dennis Edward. During WWII, Jack drove Greyhound buses to transport troops and in 1958, he and Marguerite moved to Fort Myers where he started his own trucking business, "Tropic Truck Brokers". He remained in the trucking industry until his retirement in 1998. Jack was a faithful member of First Baptist Church for 45 years where he participated in the Bible Study Program, and was always there to lend a helping hand when a job needed to be done. Jack remained in Fort Myers until June, 2006 when he moved to Lakeland, FL so he could be closer to his family.He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all. "Papa" was the patriarch of the Williams' family and always made sure that his family was provided for. He had a strong work ethic and was a good businessman. He was a very sweet and kind gentleman who had a smile for everyone. He was solid as a rock.Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marguerite, his parents, his sisters Mary Esther and Myrle, his brothers Carl and Clarence, and his beloved granddaughter, Leanna Rose Williams. Left to cherish his memory are his sons Ron (Linda) of Lakeland, FL and Dennis (Vivian) of Asheville, NC, 3 grandchildren: Trina Reisch (Scott) of Denver, CO, Summer Brannen (Thomas) of Lakeland, FL and Salena Masaood (Humaid) of Tampa, FL, 3 great-grandchildren: Savannah Brannen of Lakeland, FL, Khalifa Masaood of Tampa, FL and Samuel Reisch of Denver, CO, 2 step great-grandchildren: Jonathan and Caroline Reisch of Denver, CO, 1 nephew: Pete Williams (Dutchie) of Matthews, NC, 1 niece: Mable Sleeth (Earl) of Martinez, GA, and a host of great-nieces and nephews, and friends.His visitation will be on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Fort Myers, 1735 Jackson St., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm at the church, followed by a short gathering at the church for family and friends, followed by the graveside services at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.In his memory, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Fort Myers, 1735 Jackson St., Fort Myers FL, 33901. Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
