Stewart, J. MelvinDec. 30, 1918 - Jan. 11, 2012J. Melvin Stewart, of Sarasota, formerly of Clarion, Pa. died Jan. 11, 2012.Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at The Tabernacle. Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his daughters, Bonnie Knox of Landisville, Pa., Mary Stewart and Becky Brooks, both of Clarion, Pa.; Susan Michelsen and Beth Ricci, both of Sarasota, and Debi Munro of Wichita, Kansas; son John of Fresno, Calif.; brother Glen of LaVale, Md.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.Mel was born Dec. 30, 1918 in Jeanette, Pa., son of John L. Stewart and Lily P. Stewart. He was married May 6, 1942 to Nancy Wiseman Stewart who preceded him in death.He retired as CEO of JM Stewart Corporation, Sarasota in 2001.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Gideons International, Sarasota Chapter.
