BREWER - Irving F. "Wingy" Robinson Jr., 60, husband of Linda (Wilson) Hewes Robinson, died July 22, 2008, at his home after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 8, 1947, in Bangor, son of Irving F. and Gladys E. (Bennett) Robinson Sr. Irving worked in sales for Bangor Pipe and Supply, Bangor, for many years, where he considered his co-workers and associates his family. He enjoyed playing the drums in several local bands and was active in the adult softball league in Hampden, playing on and coaching his team, Zeke's, for 30 years. Irving also was a member of Brewer Eagles Club, Post No. 3177 and Bangor Lodge of Elks No. 244. Surviving, in addition to his wife of Brewer, are one daughter, Michelle (Robinson) Bates and her husband, Randy, of Hampden; one brother, Eugene L. Robinson and his wife, Anne; four grandchildren, whom he adored, Maxwell and Marty Hewes, Jenna and Jillian Hewes; two stepsons, Mark Hewes of Brewer, and Ron Hewes and his wife, Jami, of South Carolina; nieces and nephews, Vicki Adams, Tammi Webb, Stacey Stansel, Andrew Robinson and Robin Cole; many other special nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Russell Wilson and his wife, Bonnie, Richard Wilson and Mert Wilson; and sisters-in-law, Regina Bryant and her husband, Larry, and Carole Ammerman. He will be remembered by many family and friends that he loved immensely. Family and friends may visit 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A service honoring Irving's life will be held 6 p.m. Friday at East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson, pastor emeritus, presiding.
