Irene Hester Reid, 92, wife of the late Harold M. Reid, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Oakmont Nursing Center.Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Ellie Addis Hester. Mrs. Reid was retired from H.L. Green's and was a member of Bible Missionary.Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Suttles; a son, Gene Reid, and his wife, Andrea; a brother, Jack Hester; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Betty R. Paris; a granddaughter, Linda Paris; a grandson, Scotty Suttles; one sister; and seven brothers.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Howze Mortuary Chapel, with burial at Graceland West Cemetery.The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 6301 Mountain View Road, Taylors, SC 29687.The family will be at 1013 Batson Road, Travelers Rest.The Howze Mortuary, Funeral Directors, Travelers Rest, is in charge of arrangements.
