Irene-O. Daigle, born in 1927, spouse of Donald Dumond, daughter of Remie and Ida, mother of Rolande, Mona and Richard, died on June 3, 2005 at 78 years old.
VAN BUREN - Irene O. Dumond, 78, died June 3, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 1, 1927, in Van Buren, the daughter of Remie and Ida (Levesque) Daigle. She was president of her graduating class of 1945 at Sacred Heart High School and received an Associates Degree in accounting from Purdue University. She was employed as an administrative secretary for the Leo Poirier Law Office, and was office manager for Cote Construction and for Dr. Philip Sanfacon's medical practice in Van Buren. She was also employed as the Van Buren Town Clerk and worked as a private bookkeeper and tax preparer for many years. Irene was an administrative correspondent for the American Red Cross from 1953-1965 and was a Notary Public for 40 years and a Dedimus Justice for 22 years. She was a member of the Evangeline Circle, Daughters of Isabella for 50 years and was a member of St. Bruno Choir Society for 4 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a Friend of the Morneault Library and was a member of the St. Leonard Curling Club. She was named "Young Woman of the Year" in 1954 and she was made an honorary member of the Upsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Irene is survived by her husband of 39 years, Donald Dumond of Van Buren; her two daughters, Rolande LeBlanc and her husband, Sterling, of Rockland, Mona Stearns and her husband, Richard, of Thomaston; four grandchildren, Todd LeBlanc and his wife, Paige, of Arvada, Colo., Shane LeBlanc of San Diego, Calif., Donald Charlson and his wife Cindy of Camden, David Charlson and Johnna Field of Thomaston; three great-grandchildren, Noah and Casey LeBlanc and Fiona Charlson. She was predeceased by her first husband, Roland Ouellette in 1952; three sisters, Esther and Lillian Daigle and Adrienne Gensler; two brothers, Michael and Archie Daigle. Relatives and friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, and 9 a.m. until time of service on Friday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
