Irene Mae James, 88, died on April 20 at 8:31 a.m. in St. John's Hospital. Irene was born on March 30, 1918, to Floyd and Icey Stone in Ash Grove, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband of 49 years, Clyde James, on August 13, 1999. They owned and operated the "Black Kettle Restaurant" for many years at the corner of Campbell and Sunshine. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Ted Stone, Jimmy Stone and Richard Stone and two sisters, Maxine Rose, and Patricia Stone, who died in infancy. She is survived by her three children, daughter, Carol Reaves and her husband, Jerry, of Rogersville son, Gary Cooley, Springfield daughter, Jan Vickery and husband, Bob, of Rogersville stepson, Leroy James of California seven grandchildren six great-grandchildren and her beloved Scottie, "Bonnie Girl". Mom was a very special person and so very loved by her family and friends. "Mom, we loved you so and we will meet again in Paradise." Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2006, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, with burial in White Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home. Weep not for me, my precious Dears, I am not dead, but sleeping here. I was not yours, but God's alone, Who loves me best and took me home.
