September 8, 1936 - October 2, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the crossing over of our mother/grandmother, Irene. Irene's sunrise was on September 8, 1936 in Portobello, Scotland. Irene grew up there with her three brothers, (late) Billy, John and Henry. On Decmber 31, 1955, Irene married (the late) Edward Archibald and began a family,creating (the late) Russell, David, Stewart, Elizabeth and James. In 1969, the Archibalds emigrated to Canada and after many moves, settled in Ocean Falls,B.C. in 1977. Irene worked as a manager at the local Co-op store but became well known in the area for her homemade chicken chow mein. Irene opened a restaurant called The Pop Inn and became well known for her homemade meals along the Pacific coastline from Alaska to Peru! In 1998, Irene moved to Nanaimo then moved to Gibsons with Edward. After Edward's crossing over in 2006, Irene moved to Port McNeill then to Campbell River until her sunset. Irene leaves in her sunset, her brothers, John(Ethel) and Henry(Beth). Irene leaves in her sunset her much loved family, David(Carolee), Stewart(Susan), Elizabeth(Bill), James(Liz) and Jane(the late Russell).Irene leaves in her sunset, her grandchildren whom she was very proud of and loved, Dianna(Tony),Megan(Steeve),Michelle(Spencer), Lacey and Walker, Robyn(Matt), Britne(Doug), and Gordon, James, Jonathan and Shaughnessy, and Kathleen.Irene leaves in her sunset many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, many friends and acquaintances especially her Scrabble friend, Bella Keely and her small dog and companion, Eddie.As requested by Irene, she was cremated without a service or funeral. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either Campbell River or your local SPCA.
