Obituary of Irene-Helen Adams


TRENTON - Irene Helen Adams, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Hamilton Continuing Care Center, where she had been cared for in her last six months. Irene was born in Trenton, where she lived all of her 88 years. She attended Trenton Central High School. She retired after 25 plus years as an assembler at Westinghouse Electric Co. in Trenton. She was a lifelong member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Trenton, the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary, as well as the Franklin Park neighborhood association. Daughter of the late Michael Kelober and the late Mary (Kotnyek) Kelober, Irene had two brothers who predeceased her, Gilbert who died as a teenager, and Istvan (Stephen) who died in infancy. Irene was predeceased in 1987 by her husband of 44 years, Joseph P. Adams. She is survived by her daughter Eileen A. Ward and son-in-law Gary Ward of Hawaii; sister-in-law, Anna Di Rocco of Morrisville, Pa.; grandchildren, Nancy Ward Pham, Thomas Ward and Janet Ward Riehle; great-grandchildren, Kaia and Logan; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and many other friends and loved ones. She was a great host and loyal friend who loved traveling, dancing, shopping and chatting while treating friends to meals. Irene enjoyed the nicknames she was given: "I," "Louella," "Sister," "Gorgeous Grandma" and "Grandma Ouchie." Her bright blue eyes, warm smile and loving personality will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 2) at the Hungarian Reformed Church, 180 Home Ave., Trenton, NJ 08611. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Ave.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Irene's memory be made to the Hungarian Reformed Church, 180 Home Ave., Trenton, NJ 08610, or to the Hamilton Continuing Care Center, 1059 Edinburg Road, Hamilton, NJ 08690, or to The Caregiver Foundation of America (www.thecaregiverfoundation.com). Arrangements are under the direction of the Buklad Memorial Home.
