KELLY _ Irene (Ivy) Adelaide (nee Eadie) Passed away peacefully on July 6, 2006, with her family by her side, at the age of eighty three, at Surrey Memorial Hospital. Irene was predeceased by her husband Ben in 1997, and son Edwin in 2005. Survived by her children Raymond (Tess), Valerie (Jim), Sylvia, Audrey (Mark), Myrtle (Allan) (Flynn), June (Lucio), Eileen (Clayton), Sharon (Derry), Bernard (Carole), 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Irene was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Met and married Ben in Dublin. They immigrated with the family to Canada in March 1957. Irene and Ben made their new life in Vancouver's West End, where they raised their family. Irene always had a love for children. Along with her own brood of 10, she managed to operate her own day care. Mom cared for and nurtured so many young children along the way and always hoped they would remember "Grandma Kelly". Irene continued to work as a personal nanny well into her sixties, where she became "Grandma Kelly" to a number of children whom she came to love as her own. Mom had one ambition in life to be a mother. We as her family are here to attest to her incredible journey. She touched so many people with her quiet manner and her loving nature. Irene will be cremated and interned beside her beloved Ben at Ocean View in a private family ceremony at a later date. There will be a service to celebrate her life at the First Memorial Chapel, 602 Kingsway, Vancouver, on Wednesday July 12th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Vancouver's Children's Hospital in her name would be greatly appreciated.
