->FARMINGDALE -- Irene A. Anderson, 86, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Aug. 11, 2009.Irene was born in Augusta on July 26, 1923, the daughter of Margaret Auclair Christian and Joseph Christian. She graduated from Cony High School in 1942.Irene retired from Hazzard Shoe, where she worked for more than 20 years. She had a beautiful voice and sang while her husband played the banjo at various dance halls throughout her life, particularly at The Blue Goose in Rockport for more than 30 years.Irene is survived by her only child, Nancy Anderson; her brother, Norman; and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her husband, Everett "Andy" Anderson; a sister, Lillian Wing; and brothers Raymond, Clinton and Roger Christian.There will be no public visiting hours, at her request. Donations can by made in her memory to Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 10 Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330.A graveside memorial service will take place in September at Bolton Hill Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements are in the care of Direct Cremation of Maine.
