FRANKLINVILLE - Ida Mae Hentges Weimer Hooper Gardner, moved on to her next adventure peacefully Tuesday (April 22, 2014).Ida loved life and the people in her life. She volunteered and had many friends at the Ischua Valley Historical Society, the Philomathic Society and the Machias museum. She was also involved with the Franklinville Seniors and Monday crafting. All her friends and family will miss her and her leadership.Ida was born Feb. 17, 1935, in Buffalo. As a teen she moved to Florida with her parents, the late John M Hentges and Vera Joslin Hentges; there she met and married William C. Weimer in 1952. Together they reared their four children, Terrence Weimer (Greta), Cheryl Hudson (James), Russell Weimer (Laura) and Deborah McCollum (Robert) as an Air Force family, moving to many bases in the United States and abroad.Later in life, Ida met and married her soulmate, Richard B. Gardner of Salamanca. Prior to his death, they had many wonderful years of love, fun and adventure while living in Salamanca and later in Franklinville. Education was always important to her. She graduated from high school in Buffalo, earned her bachelor's degree from the University of the Philippines and got her master's degree in education from Florida Technical University in Orlando. Ida taught elementary school and retired from the Brevard County school system in Florida.She is survived and will be missed by her four children; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.Ida is preceded in death by two husbands, Donald Hooper and Richard B. Gardner; her sister, Ruth; Ruth's daughter, Dr. Linda Fay; and many friends. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Franklinville, and the congregation will have a celebration of her life for friends and family at 10 a.m. Monday (April 28, 2014) at the church, followed by lunch in the Fellowship Hall.In lieu of flowers, Ida requested that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Franklinville's New Fellowship Hall Fund.
