Ida M. Jones Gary Ida M. Jones, age 82, of Gary, Indiana died after a brief illness late Wednesday evening, March 17, 2004 at the Methodist Hospital with her family by her side. Mrs. Jones was born on September 8, 1921 in Minden, Louisiana to John and Lela (Mack) Peters. In 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as the former Ida M. Peters she married James L. Anderson who preceded her in death in 1945. In August of 1952 in Chicago, Illinois she married Ruben J. Jones who preceded her in death in 1974. She leaves behind her loving children, Cleda M. Toliver, Michelle M. Jones and Kevin C. Jones all of whom are of Lansing, Michigan. Also surviving are her twelve loving grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and two loving great-great-grandsons. Four sisters, Ollis Jones, Maranda Payton and Lavelle Canada all of whom are of Chicago, Illinois and Lela Green of Indianapolis, Indiana. Three brothers, Johnny (Emma) Peters of Lansing, Michigan, Fredrick (Darlene) Peters of Gary, Indiana and Wade (Betty) Peters also of Lansing, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, two sons, her sister and two brothers. Mrs. Jones retired after 23 years of service as a nurse for Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She was the past president of the Nurses Guild and was an active member in the Miller Senior Association. She was a faithful member of Christ Baptist Church for over twenty years. Funeral services will be offered in celebration of the life of Ida M. Jones on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in Christ Baptist Church in Gary, Indiana with the Reverend Maurice White officiating. At the families request there will be private interment services. The family will receive guests on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a family hour from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Ridgelawn Funeral Home Chapel, 4201 West Ridge Road (219)980-5555 and also on Thursday in the church one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mrs. Jones to the donor's choice. Ida will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted family and many friends. MAY GOD GRANT HER ETERNAL REST
