HAYWARD, Ida 2009-10-02 Mrs. Ida Elizabeth Hayward age 62 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, died peacefully at home after a brief illness, on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Ida was born in Fort William and raised in South Gillies. She attended rural schools and Selkirk High. At age 18 Ida married Gordon Hayward who predeceased her June 29, 2003. Ida worked at various jobs including a teller at Credit Unions and more recently as a home care assistant with Com Care which she truly enjoyed. Ida loved to garden and to share her knowledge of gardening with family and friends. She is survived by her son Lorne (Maria) Hayward, granddaughters Cassandra and Katrina; daughter Sue Ann (Myriam) of Ottawa; step mother Helen Johnson; sister’s Jo-Ann (Ken) Mutkala, and Linda (Bill) Williamson; brother Raymond (Emily) Johnson as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Predeceased by her husband Gordon, son James, father Ray, mother June and brother Jackie in infancy. Respecting Ida’s wishes cremation will take place along with a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers should friends desire, memorials to the Children’s Wish Foundation would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Ida Hayward in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.
