Hoyt Williams, 72, of Sheffield, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002.Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery, and Barry Anderson will officiate.Mr. Williams was a native of Itawamba County, Miss. He was a Korean veteran and was retired as a captain with the Sheffield Fire Department. He was a member of Annapolis Avenue Church of Christ.Survivors include his wife, Rena Williams of Sheffield; son, Phillip Williams, also of Sheffield; brother, Merlon Williams of Red Bay; sisters, Oleta Blaney of Scottsdale, Ariz., Pauline Rogers of Fulton, Miss.; and two grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Jeff Wicks, Ulus Farris, Larry Pilkinton, Matt Mothershed, Terry Lenz and Hoyt Holman.Honorary pallbearers are current and retired Sheffield firefighters and Robert Glasgow.Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.
