BIRD _ Hilda Mildred (nee Williams) December 29th, 1925 - July 2nd, 2006 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Hilda, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Jim; her children, Tim, Steve (Tina), Mary (Gordon), Esther (Albert), Andre (Fielding); grandchildren, Sheldon, Godfrey, Roberta, Rudy, Joy, Pamela, Sean, Marcel, Mercedes, Amber, Dallas and Cheyenne; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Caleb and Flora Williams, siblings Ben, Elsie and Billy Gladstone and Godfrey and Patsy Williams. Hilda was born in Bella Bella, B.C. and travelled in her younger years throughout Canada and the U.S. Vancouver became her home for the past 35 years as a base for her many trips throughout B.C. to visit family and friends and an endless search for the perfect bingo game. Her lifelong passion for bingo took her and Jim from Smithers and Prince George to Port Alberni and Nanaimo to Chilliwack and Washington State, making friends in every town and city. A gentle soul who touched the hearts of all who knew her, Hilda will be greatly missed and her memory always cherished. Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7th at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 E. Hastings Street, Vancouver. Reception to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Glenhaven Reception Room. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre.
