COLONIE Herman A. Wahl, 83, died Saturday, September 4, 2004 at Albany Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. Born in Pforzheim Germany, son of the late Karl and Christiane Renz Wahl. He graduated from Albany High School and attended the V12 Flight Training Program at RPI in Troy. Mr. Wahl was also a Golden Gloves Boxer Light Heavyweight. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving on the USS Vicksburg in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Wahl worked as a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1985. He was a 40 year member of the Guttenberg Lodge No. 737 and F. & AM, Sheehy Palmer VFW Post 6776, Nathaniel Blanchard Post 1040 American Legion and the Third Reformed Church. Husband of the late Jennie Rochon Wahl; father of Thomas Wahl and his wife Janet of Greenwich, N.Y.; brother of Helen Gray and her husband William of Delmar. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Donations to the charity of your choice, in Mr. Wahl's name, would be appreciated.
