July 6, 2003 Herbert Edward Alden, 70 of Syracuse died Sunday at his home. A native of Detroit, Michigan, he grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, moved to New York City in 1960, and has lived in Syracuse since 1974. He had been employed by the NewYork State Division of Human Rights as an investigator. He was an Airforce Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving stateside. He was a volunteer in the VA Medical Center Chaplins' office. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, 11 months, Joyce (Oberman) Alden, a daughter, Heather A. Alden of Syracuse, a son, Timothy W. K. Alden of Syracuse. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of the Living Word, 6099 Court Street Road, Syracuse. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church of the Living Word Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
