Obituary of Henrietta-May Carter


Henrietta May Carter Henrietta May Carter (nee Holden), 73, of Millville, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Feb. 15, 2010, at home. Born in Pocomoke, Md., she was the daughter of the late Oscar Holden and the late Susie Holden (nee Gillette). Ms. Carter worked as a seamstress for DeRossi Clothing Manufacturing, in Vineland. She enjoyed being at home, reading and singing. She was an avid lover of children and animals. Ms. Carter was a longtime member of the Daughters of Elkton social club, in Brotmanville. She was a former member of Mount Pisgah Methodist Church, in Vineland. She leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, Harmon Holden and his wife, Valerie, of Quinton Township, and Oscar Holden Jr., of Millville; one sister, Susie M. Holden, of Newfield; one niece, Stella V. Bailey and her husband, Charles, of Gouldtown; several additional nieces and nephews; one cousin, Oris Fisher and her husband, Wallace, of Millville; and two godsons, Adrian and Herman Holden. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday morning, Feb. 19, at 11 oÕclock at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, with her brother, Elder Harmon Holden, of Bethel Pentecostal Church, in Bridgeton, officiating. Cremation will take place at Laurel Lawn Crematory, in Upper Deerfield Township, following the service. Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday between 10 and 11 a.m. Written condolences and tributes may be offered to the family via the funeral home Web site, freitagfuneralhome.com.
