Helene 'Lea' (Gagnon) GilbertLowell, MA native; 72 PHOENIX, AZ -- Helene "Lea" Gilbert (Gagnon), 72, of Arizona City, AZ, died on July 24th, 2014 at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, AZ after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Donald Gilbert who died March 17, 2013.She was born in Lowell, MA on July 11, 1942. A daughter of the late Theresa (Lafortune) Souza and Albert Gagnon.Ms. Gilbert was a graduate of Lowell High School and spent much of her adult life in the south working in the service industry. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and camping with friends. She also enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family.She is survived by a son, Robert Howe and his wife, Tammy of Fresno, CA and a daughter, Christine Turner and her husband, Joshua of Kalamazoo, MI; along with six grandchildren.She is also survived by two sisters, Rachel M Casey of Williamstown, MA, and Maria T Marlowe of Nashua, NH.A private memorial service is planned for Ms. Gilbert in Lowell, MA in October 2014. Her body was donated to the Biological Research Center in Phoenix.
