Obituary of Helen-Shaughnessy Johnson


Helen "Sis" Shaughnessy Johnson, 78, of Louisville, entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 13, 2003. Born in Louisville, she was active in the Passionist Auxiliary of Louisville, Queen's Daughters and the Auxiliary of the Little Sisters of the Poor. She was active in the Hearing Committee League of the Catholic PTA until going to Salem, IL, when her husband was transferred there. She worked at the Louisville and Jefferson County Health Department in the Communicative Disorders Department. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, where she was active on the Bereavement Committee. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Raymond Johnson, and sisters, Dorothy Hale, Patricia Schneider and Loretta (Buddie) Shaughnessy. She is survived by her daughter, Eileen Hennessey and her husband, Donald; sons, Dr. Raymond H. Johnson and his wife, Cheryl, and John Patrick Johnson and his wife, Gail; and grandchildren, Maureen Hennessey Smith, Ryan Hennessey, Kelly Hennessey, Megan Johnson and Seth Johnson. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at her church, 7813 Shelbyville Rd., with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Rd. Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Mass of the Air or any of the organizations to which she belonged.
