Helen Ruth Miller was born April 26, 1918, in Greene County, Mo., and passed away on Monday, November 26, 2007, in Strafford Care Center. The first of five daughters born to James and Sylvia (Sib) Gunter, Ruth lived her entire life in the same community. On April 30, 1938, Ruth married Chauncey Miller, who preceded her in death in 1993 shortly before their 55th wedding anniversary. Ruth accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She had a love of music and was pianist at Mount Comfort Church where she was a member who enjoyed attending all services. Ruth considered her role as a wife, mother and homemaker a high calling. Ruth is survived by her three children and their spouses, Celia and Jerry Sutherland, Fair Grove, Joe and Glenda Miller, Springfield, and Mary Jane and Barry Jaynes, Springfield; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her youngest sister and her husband, Sue and Glenn Israel, Walnut Grove; two brothers-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chauncey; and three sisters, Katherine Savage, Faye Gaines and Wilma Kinter. Funeral services for Ruth Miller will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Visitation is scheduled for this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Comfort Cemetery.
