McGILL--Helen Ludwig, born July 3rd 1911, WPA artist, sculptor, painter, teacher, dancer, ceramicist and community activist, died of natural causes on November 28th 2009, four months after celebrating her 98th birthday. She joins her beloved husband, philosopher VJ McGill (born 1897-1977) in the peaceful hereafter, after a conscious goodbye full of music and laughter, reminiscing with her dear granddaughter and friends and family from her city of San Francisco. Helen is survived by her daughter, Maisie Conrad; son-in-law, Richard Conrad; granddaughter Vera Conrad; grandson Ethan Conrad; great granddaughter Olivia Conrad; niece Donna Stuart by marriage to the late David Stuart; brother Raymond Ludwig and his wife Jean; descendants from Connecticut through the Ludwig, Zahner, Gottier, and Neumann families. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 23rd 2010, at 3pm in the chapel of the First Unitarian Church, located at 1187 Franklin Street, San Francisco, CA 94109.
