Obituary of Helen-Mary Hems

HEMS, Helen Mary (Wilson) - Passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Orillia, Ontario in her 84th year. She was the cherished wife and best friend of Don Hems for 57 years. She met the love of her life while learning to fly at Barker Field which had existed in the Lawrence Ave. W. and Dufferin area of Toronto; besides one another, airplanes were their other shared love. Daughter of Steve and Jessie Wilson (predeceased) and loving mother to Lisa, Lesley (Mark) and Dennis, loving grandmother to Lindsay and Shannon McGuire and Renee St. Germain. Predeceased by her sisters Wilma and Jessie and her brother George Wilson. A special and talented lady who enjoyed crafts, cooking and always being the perfect hostess, her door was open to friends and neighbours. She will be deeply missed by friends, family and Spike the family dog. A Celebration of Helen's Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, 215 Mississauga St. E., Orillia, on Sunday, February 9 from 1-4 p.m. If desired, memorial donations to the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, the Arthritis Society or the charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated.
