Helen M. Dowd, 88, died Dec. 19, 2005, at Tiffany Hall in Port St. Lucie. She was born in Milwaukee and was a longtime resident of Vero Beach. She worked as a nurse's aide in the 1960s for Royal Palm Convalescent home. Survivors include sons, Harlan Mayor of Florida, David Dowd of Massachusetts, Glen Dowd of Vero Beach and Gary Dowd; daughters, Deanna Hartsfield of Florida, Dawn Carmody of Tennessee, Mary Pate of Vero Beach, and Gayle Dowd and Jill Lacy, both of Florida; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne T. Dowd. Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Hospices 10360 S. Federal Highway, Port St. Lucie, FL 34952.
