TAYLOR, Helen June - June 7, 1925 - February 4, 2009. With family by her side, Helen June Taylor nee Lambert passed away February 4, 2009 at Extendicare York, Sudbury. Helen is predeceased by her husband Ken (1925-1979) whom she married May 4, 1949. Born in Barrie, Ontario June 7, 1925, Helen was the daughter of William and Mabel (Etherington) Lambert. She is survived by her sons Greg and his wife Denise Fraser, Gary and his partner Cathy Debassige, and David, all of Sudbury; two sisters, Doris Hughes (Earl) of Ottawa, and Marion Bigelow of Barrie; daughter in law Sharon Cooper; grandchildren Erin Robinson (Jeff) of Walton, Ontario, Jodi Robertson (Adrian) of Vancouver, Shannon Taylor, Dawn Debassige, Tiffany and Ashley Taylor, and Beth and Kevin Taylor of Sudbury; three great granddaughters Grace, Emma and Ava Robinson, as well as four step grandchildren, Mark Fraser (Jodi), Renee Hull (Chris), Jason Fraser (Jennifer), and Jeni King (Jody) and their children Chase Fraser, Samantha, Allysa and Joseph Hull, Emma and Abby Fraser, and Hendrix King, all of Sudbury. As a young woman Helen was involved in the choir at Collier Street United Church in Barrie, her beautiful soprano voice garnered her acclaim and many awards. In the early 1960's she was asked to sing with the Toronto Philharmonic. In Sudbury Helen sang with the choirs at St. Andrews and St. Peters United Churches. In 1953 Helen and Ken moved from Barrie to Sudbury and Ken took over managing John Bazaar Jewellery. In 1962 the couple purchased the business and the name was changed to Ken Taylor Jewellery. The business was purchased by their son in 1977. Over the years Helen enjoyed taking craft classes, such as ceramics and paper toll, which she enjoyed giving as gifts to her family who cherished them. Helen was a dedicated volunteer at the Sudbury Algoma Hospital for many years. Her sunny smile “Oh, hi Dear“ and “I love you honey“ will be greatly missed. “Deep in my heart, a memory is kept, To love, to cherish never to forget“. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch Street, Sunday, February 8th, 2009 at 1 p.m. Interment in the Parklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Fund would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-5 & 7-9 pm Saturday, or after 12 noon Sunday).
