HINSDALE, N.H. -- The Liturgy of Christian Burial for Helen Josephine Roy was celebrated Saturday morning at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Hinsdale.The Rev. Daniel O. Lamothe was celebrant. Assisting on the altar was Thomas Magee who served as acolyte. The cross bearer was Joseph Morgan.Music for the mass was under the direction of church organist Rosemary Major who offered the following organ preludes, “On Eagle's Wings,” “Prayer of Saint Francis,” “Jerusalem, My Happy Home” and “I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say.” The processional hymn was “Amazing Grace.”The Old Testament scripture reading from Lamentations and the New Testament scripture reading from Philippians were both read by Rev. Lamothe, who offered the Gospel reading from the Book of St. John.Rev. Lamothe led in the reciting of the responsorial psalm and then gave his homily.Mrs. Roy was remembered as a woman who loved and took care of her family and was steadfast in her walk of faith. Rev. Lamothe closed is remarks describing the appreciation Mrs. Roy had for flowers, especially in the springtime, giving testimony to the new life she now has with her savior Jesus Christ.As the altar was being prepared for Holy Communion, Major played presentation hymn, “Here I Am Lord” and Communion hymn “Pan Angelicas.” Meditation hymn was “Song of Farewell.”The mass concluded with the final commendation and incensing of the casket. Recessional hymn was “The King of Love.”Committal Rites and burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery where Rev. Lamothe gave the prayers of committal.Serving as pallbearers were Randy Bokum and Rick Bokum, both nephews, Robert Johnson, Douglas Stephens, Jay Matuszewski and James Dunham.A reception followed the services held in the Saint Joseph's Church Fellowship Hall.Attending the services were delegations representing Hinsdale Fire Department, Bridgeport Metal Goods, Anthony Toepher Jewelers of Keene, and many friends and neighbors.Mrs. Roy, 77, of Glen Street in Hinsdale, died Tuesday, April 24, at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene.Arrangements were under the direction of the Atamaniuk Funeral home.u
