Helen Johnson, 74, Palmetto, died Sept. 16, 2002. She was born in Ellenton and was a lifelong resident. She retired as a certified nursing assistant at Suncoast Manor Nursing Center. She was a Baptist. Survivors include daughters Josephine Hall of Sarasota and Ann of Palmetto; sisters Willie Lee Buggs, Minnie P. Edwards and Vasti Bethel, all of Palmetto; a brother, Roosevelt Washington of Palmetto; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Palmetto. The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto. Westside Funeral Home in Palmetto is in charge.
