->Raymond, Helen Jean (McMahon)Hallstead, PA: Helen Jean (McMahon) Raymond, Hallstead, PA, passed away at her home on Thursday, March 24, 2011 following a brief illness. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph T. McMahon and Julia (Nawoichik) McMahon; her sister, Mary Elizabeth (McMahon) Schiller; her brother-in-law, John P. McIntyre; and her husband of forty years, Harold R. (Bob) Raymond. She is survived by her loving sister, Joann McIntyre, Susquehanna, PA; her devoted niece and husband, Terese McIntyre-DeLaPlaine and Adam DeLaPlaine, Susquehanna, PA; her loving nephew and wife, John P. McIntyre and Teresa McIntyre, Webster, MA; her beloved great nephews, John and Joseph DeLaPlaine; her endeared great niece Tori McIntyre, and her sister-in-law Ann Palletti, along with several other nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Susquehanna, PA, Helen graduated from Marywood College where her passion for community service was initially cultivated. Helen spent nearly thirty years with the American Red Cross, retiring in 2007 as the Executive Director of the Southern Tier Chapter and the five New York counties it serves. During her tenure with the Red Cross, Helen raised millions of dollars to further its humanitarian mission resulting in the successful relocation of the chapter's headquarters to its current Endicott, NY site. Following her retirement, Helen continued utilizing her fundraising talents on behalf of the Roberson Center, the Ross Park Zoo, and most recently NEPA Community Health Care. Helen's life time of community service earned her honorary membership with the New York Army National Guard's 204th Engineer Battalion. Helen's personal life was devoted to her husband, her family and the many animals she cared for over the years at her home in Hallstead, PA. An avid horse enthusiast, Helen exhibited her half-Arabian horses for many years which she later maintained with Bob at their stable, Raymond's Arabians, also located in Hallstead, PA. Helen's unwavering devotion to excellence in community service is well-known and respected throughout Broome County. She impacted upon the lives of thousands who never knew her and touched the hearts of those fortunate few who did. At Helen's request calling hours will not be held. A private mass will be celebrated at St. John's the Evangelist Church in Susquehanna, PA. She will be interred in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hallstead, PA, in the spring 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NEPA Community Health Care, 25054 SR 11, Hallstead, PA 18822.
