Helen HancockHelen Strawn Hancock, 88, of Tallahassee went home to the Lord Friday August 12, 2011. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 15, 2011, between 10:00am and 10:45am with services to follow at 11am at Immanuel Baptist Church. The burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Contributions to the Immanuel Baptist Church "20/20 Vision" building fund may be made in lieu of flowers (Immanuel Baptist Church, 2351 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL. 32308). A beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend, she was born in Arcadia, Florida, a graduate of Leon High School, an inaugural member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a member of the Winsome Sunday School Class, and Women's Missionary Union.She was well known for her cake baking, singing, and love of the Lord, her church, and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Willard Hancock, daughter Renee Hancock, son W. Gary Hancock, Father Willie Strawn, mother Nellie Strawn, brother W.L. Strawn, and sister Hazel Strawn.She is survived by her daughter Myra Denese Hancock of Tallahassee, her grandsons Michael Shaun Hancock(Jennifer) of Tampa, Eric Ryan Hancock of Tallahassee, her granddaughter Nicole Michelle Correa (Abel) of Tallahassee, and many nieces and nephews.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Big Bend Hospice for their extraordinary loving care during her final hours.
