June 24, 2004 Helen H. Adams, 90, passed away peacefully Thursday. Born in Glidden, Iowa she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the State University of Iowa, majoring in romance languages with a minor in English. Her pursuit of an education won her scholarships atMc Gill University in Montreal and the University of Chile. Helen's career began teaching language in Iowa, South Dakota and as far away as Juneau, Alaska. At the close of WWII Helen worked as a secretary at the U.S. Embassy in Rome, Italy. There she met her husband of 51 years, the late Professor John Clarke Adams. Helen devoted the rest of her career to typing and editing her husband's numerous articles and manuscripts. She was a wonderful mother and devoted wife. Surviving are her two sons, Marc P. Adams and Peter D. Adams, his wife Cynthia and two grandchildren Armand and Maxine. Helen was very involved with the First Presbyterian Church where a memorial service will be held for her on Tuesday, June 29 at 2 p.m., 620 West Genesee St., Syracuse.
