Funeral for Helen Etheredge Johnson, 79, of Decatur will be Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Karl Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mrs. Johnson, who died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at her residence, was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Colbert County to William McKinley Etheredge and Annie Jeffreys Etheredge. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. Her parents, and one brother, Ned Etheredge, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wallace Russell “Sonny” Johnson; one daughter, Pam Johnson of LaGrange, Ga.; one brother, Ted Etheredge and his wife, Larene, of Decatur; one sister, Mary Glenn and her husband, Charles, of Moulton; and a sister-in-law, Sarah Etheredge of Decatur. Pallbearers will be Steve Etheredge, Todd Etheredge, Mike Etheredge, Billy Biles, William Wynn and Tom Jones.Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Etheredge, Donnie Slayton, Jeff Slayton and Wendell Walker. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.
