Helen Elizabeth Renouf (née Alexander) August 23, 1914 - November 02, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Fair Haven Funeral Home Helen Renouf Helen Elizabeth Renouf, 91, of Yale Ave Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, November 2, 2005. Born in River Hebert, NS, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Bessie (Lewis) Alexander. Helen graduated from McGill University with a BSc degree, and from Mount Allison University with a BEd degree. During The Second World War, Helen was employed on the Gaspe Coast as a chemist in the pulp and paper industry. She taught school for 17 years, the first year at Moncton High School the remaining years in Riverview, and she was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Helen was a founding member of St. Paul's United Church (Riverview United) , serving in many capacities, including the UCW, the Board Of Trustees, serving as a Sunday School teacher and Elder. She was a weekly columnist with a Riverview newspaper, and one of the key members of the Albert County Historical Society, responsible for the publication of The History of Riverview. Helen was an avid environmentalist, a member of The Moncton Naturalist Club, an active member of The Friends of The Petticodiac, and a staunch supporter of opening the causeway gates on a permanent basis. She was a past president of the University Woman’s Club, and an active canvasser for several charitable organizations for many years. She is survived by daughters; Dorothy Milbrath (James) of Sidney, BC, Charlotte Renouf of Riverview, grand children; Danielle, Tara, Erika, and Jon, sisters-in-law Audrey Alexander of Dartmouth, NS, Phyllis & Bob Vincent of Osyoos, BC, and Madge and Henry Martin of Peterborough, ON. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter James Renouf and special friend Raymond Burtt. There will be no visitation prior to the funeral service to be held on Saturday November 5th at 2:00 PM at St. Paul’s United Church 404 Cleveland Avenue Riverview. A reception will follow in the church hall. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to St Paul’s United Church, the Moncton SPCA, or the Riverkeepers.
