McDermott, Helen C. ALBANY Helen C. McDermott, 92, of Albany passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold A. McDermott (Bud). Helen was a lifelong resident of Albany. She enjoyed the last 17 months of her life at the Eddy Terrace in Troy. There, she continued to make even more friends. Helen was born on March 11, 1918. She was the daughter of Daniel and Helen Kinley. Helen's positive attitude made every event she attended, whether with friends or family, the best time ever. She loved to travel both near and far with her friends and her best friend, her sister Marion Quackenbush. Her memberships in the Sacred Heart Church and Menands Seniors were a great joy for her. She was a longstanding member of both. Helen graduated from Albany High School. She retired from her job with the city of Albany CETA Program. Helen is survived by her children, Karen (John) Forner III and Kevin (Mary) McDermott; her grandchildren, Shea Forner, John Forner IV, Emily (Chris) Ami-ccuci and Elizabeth McDermott. She was also predeceased by her brother, Raymond Kinley Sr. and sister, Marion (Maddy) Quack-enbush. Maddy and Helen were most likely seen together and were lovingly known as "the Kinley girls." Funeral services Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 8:15 a.m. from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to Sacred Heart Church, Albany at 9:00 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday, August 9, 2010, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
